ACG Built demolished an ageing workshop and constructed a completely new granny flat from the ground up in Caringbah. Work to the existing residence was limited to targeted improvements at the front of the home, including partial reconstruction, recladding, deck work and selected landscaping. The project also included work to the outdoor entertaining area.

Project Overview

A New Granny Flat & Targeted Front-of-Home Improvements

This was not a full-home renovation. ACG Built was engaged to demolish an ageing workshop and construct a brand-new granny flat from the ground up — the largest component of the project. Work to the existing residence was limited to targeted improvements at the front of the home: partial reconstruction, white weatherboard recladding, front deck work and selected landscaping. The outdoor entertaining area was also upgraded as part of the overall scope.

The front of the house received fresh white weatherboard cladding with timber detailing at the entrance, giving the home a crisp, timeless street presence suited to the coastal character of Caringbah. Recycled brick paving creates textured pathways that connect the property to its landscaped surroundings.

At the rear, the new granny flat features bright, open-plan living with quality finishes throughout. Timber cabinetry, a compact but fully equipped kitchenette and a modern bathroom make it a comfortable, independent living space — ideal for extended family, visiting guests or a private work-from-home studio.

From Old Workshop to New Granny Flat

The centrepiece of this Caringbah project was the demolition of an ageing workshop and the construction of a brand-new granny flat built from the ground up. This was a completely new build — not a workshop conversion or renovation of an existing structure.

The old workshop was fully demolished and the site was prepared for a new structure. ACG Built then constructed a purpose-built granny flat that adds exceptional value and flexibility to the property — ideal for extended family, visiting guests or a private work-from-home studio.

The granny flat features bright, open-plan living with timber cabinetry, a compact but fully equipped kitchenette, and a modern bathroom — a comfortable, independent living space designed to complement the coastal character of the Sutherland Shire.

Front-of-House Improvements

Targeted Front-of-House Improvements

ACG Built carried out targeted improvements to the front of the existing residence — this was not a complete renovation or recladding of the entire home. The scope was limited to the front façade and its immediate exterior elements.

The work involved partial reconstruction of the front section, fresh white weatherboard recladding on the affected areas, and timber detailing at the entrance. These targeted updates gave the home a crisp, refreshed street presence while respecting the original structure.

The front deck was also included in the scope, with work carried out to tie it seamlessly into the refreshed façade. Recycled brick paving was laid to create textured pathways that connect the entry points to the surrounding landscape.

Landscaping

Partial Front Landscaping

Selected landscaping was completed at the front of the Caringbah property as part of the overall project scope. This work was focused on enhancing kerb appeal at the front of the home and creating a cohesive connection between the refreshed façade and the surrounding outdoor spaces.

The landscaping was targeted in nature, integrated with the recycled brick paving that weaves through the front of the property. Plant selection complements the coastal character of the Sutherland Shire, with greenery that softens the hard surfaces and adds a welcoming, established feel.

It's worth noting this was partial front landscaping — not a complete landscape redesign of the entire property. The work was carefully scoped to complement the other front-of-house improvements ACG Built delivered on this project.

Outdoor Entertaining Area

As part of this Caringbah project, ACG Built upgraded the outdoor entertaining area — a practical addition that extends the home's living space well beyond its walls.

A covered alfresco area provides a comfortable setting for year-round entertaining — whether it's a summer barbecue with friends or a quiet Sunday breakfast with the family. The recycled brick paving flows through the entertaining zone, tying the outdoor spaces together with a cohesive, grounded feel.

A courtyard area with an outdoor shower adds a practical touch for beach days — rinse off the sand before heading inside. Timber fencing encloses the property with privacy and style, complementing the coastal aesthetic.
